誰知盘中餐,粒粒皆辛苦……experiences in Tibet

I went to a small typical Tibetan restaurant in Lhasa for my lunch when I were there traveling in May this year. What caught my attention was the writing on the wall at the kitchen window of the restaurant .

” 誰知盘中餐 , 粒粒皆辛苦”.

In Tibet , there are not many soil that can be planted with green vegetables or plants. The soil is so hard to retained at the surface of the highlands. It’s often blown off by the strong wind . I could see many cement blocks placed on top of the thin soil trying to stop it from being blown away. This must be the job of the China government .

In such a harsh environment , it’s hard for any crops to grow.
Could you imagine the scarcity of their food ?
Every drop of food is precious.

I thought of this every time when I saw people left the food they can’t finish at the restaurant . What a waste! Have they ever thought of those people without food in Tibet or Africa ?
May be yes…
But, most probably no.
